FIVE FUN HALLOWEEN FACTS

  1. Are you curious about the roots of Jack O’ Lanterns? Turns out that the Irish brought this tradition to America but there were no pumpkins in Ireland, so they used turnips! These carved turnips were used in ancient Celtic cultures on All Hallows Eve to ward off evil spirits. When the tradition made its way to America turnips were not cheap, so Americans used pumpkins instead.

  5. Black cats get a bad rap on Halloween. They were once believed to be witch familiars and protectors and it’s said if one crosses your path it’s an omen of misfortune or even death. Interestingly enough in England it’s the opposite. White cats are believed to be bad luck and black cats are thought to bring good fortune.
