  • DESSERT – Halloween is all about the sugar, keep it coming with some spooky desserts. There are all kinds of recipes out there to make a spooky dessert, and if you run out of time no worries the grocery store is always serving up Halloween treats in their bakery! Another crowd pleasing option is a chocolate fountain but you don’t have to stick with traditional brown chocolate, you can get green for slime, red for blood or even white so your guests can dip their snacks and make little ghosts!

  • SNACKS & BITES – With all the Halloween hijinks your guests are going to get hungry! Make sure to have plenty of finger foods and snacks on hand. And be mindful of any allergies or food preferences your guest may have and make sure to have an option for everyone!

SPOOKY SETTING

  • SOUND EFFECTS – Consider setting up a speaker on your front porch so that you can play one of those classic scary sound effects CDs, or find a channel on Youtube. This sets the scene for the party and gives your guests an expectation of what’s inside! 
  • LIGHTING – Lighting is key to creating a spooky atmosphere. Consider up lighting, for this effect you turn off or dim the lights and add the uplights along the perimeter of the wall, you can choose just about any color of the rainbow and this really helps enhance the theme of the party. Another option for a really spooky party is to turn off the lights and use a bunch of candles to cast a lot of shadows and add an old world Halloween touch. It is recommended that you use LED candles as opposed to real ones but if you must use real candles make sure the candle and the flame are surrounded by glass.

  • DECORATIONS – One of the most important things to keep in mind when throwing a Halloween party are the decorations. Make sure your decorations match the theme you are going for: Gothic, Day of the Dead, Kid Friendly, etc. There are a lot of options out there so don’t get too overwhelmed when you go to the store just make a list and stick to it!

  • SPECIAL EFFECTS – To really evoke that Halloween feeling, special effects like fog or mist are perfect! Fog is a great way to make your Halloween party come to life. Fog can help create an eerie atmosphere which is perfect for Halloween!
