Stay at Home Valentine’s Day Decor
My favorite way to decorate for a special occasion is to re-purpose items I find around the house.
Do you have any left over tissue paper from the holidays? Use it to create cute tissue paper flowers that you can place on the table, pin to the wall, or make a flower garland to hang. Click here for the tissue paper flower tutorial.
Are your Christmas lights still in an easy to reach location? Using a strand of LED lights is an easy way to create a romantic ambiance without lighting 100 candles and getting wax all over the place. I like to place a few candles near the Christmas lights to add a little touch of organic light from the flames.
I had this big bag of tealights sitting in a drawer in the kitchen but no candle holders. Luckily I also had a handful of mini mason jars. I took them to the backyard and filled them about halfway with some stones from around the pool (which I still never put back :p) and nestled the tealight into the center. Simple but it added a nice touch.

Stay at Home Valentine’s Day Meal
Don’t stress yourself out by trying to cook some fabulous 5 star 3 course meal from scratch. Picking one of your significant other’s favorite recipes (that is hopefully easy to make) should surprise them enough. If you want to try something new you can choose a recipe that uses one of their favorite ingredients.
Here are a couple easy meal examples to try:
Creamy “BLT” Pasta by A Dash of Sanity: This is one of my favorite pasta recipes that uses bacon! Mmmmm. She claims the “dish is simple to make and ready in less than 30 minutes” so why not give it a try! Although my first time making that recipe it took more like an hour but I don’t cook often so you might have better luck than me.
Lemony Chicken Piccata from Taste of Home: A 5 star recipe that only takes 25 minutes to cook? If you like chicken this recipe is worth a try.
Not interested in either of those recipes? Check out Minimalist Baker, a blog that features recipes “that require 10 ingredients or less, one bowl, or 30 minutes or less to prepare”.
Stay at Home Valentine’s Day Dessert
One of the easiest ways to make a Valentine’s Day themed dessert is to pick your favorite cupcake or cookie recipe and add some v-day sprinkles, heart candies, or pink/red food coloring. Super easy!
This year I plan on making these delicious looking strawberry cupcakes with strawberry buttercream frosting. I have some heart sprinkles to throw on top to make them extra perfect for Valentine’s Day. Click here for the recipe.
Here are some Valentine’s day desserts that don’t require much creativity on your part, just follow the directions!
Homemade Funfetti Cupcakes (easy to make and delicious, these also happen to be one of my favorite cupcake recipes of all time)
Vanilla Cupcakes with Heart Inside (these seem like a pain in the butt to make but they’re adorable)
Heart Shaped Sugar Cookies (if you’re looking for something easy, try these)
Pink Popcorn with Hearts (for those people who just don’t like cakes and cupcakes)
